Roper Portraits in The Surfer's Journal Richard Kenvin has written an interesting piece in the new the most recent issue of The Surfer's Journal.  The article is a 'passing of the torch' descriptive about La Jolla surf legend and surfboard ding repair maestro, Joe Roper, and his son Jo Jo Roper and their relationship with Big Rock. TSJ used a couple portraits of mine in the feature. If you are a fan of La Jolla surf culture you should certainly grab a copy.  You can also read the article by clicking on the image below.

Ghiglia Releases Dream Island to Photography Gallery I am pleased to announce a new release into my print gallery today.  DREAM ISLAND was captured during a boat trip I did to the Marshall Islands with Martin Daly and his amazing crew aboard The Windward. The Marshall Islands make up the largest atoll chain in the world. Having spent a great deal of time circumnavigating the globe in search of the world's best waves, Daly has deemed the Marshalls one of the last untouched pristine ocean experiences left in the world. With near unlimited underwater visibility, this remote part of the Western Pacific boasts brilliant live coral gardens and an abundance of thriving sea life, including a sanctuary for all sharks, protecting them by law.

DREAM ISLAND was captured using a wide angle lens enclosed in a water housing fitted with a large lens port suitable for capturing a split image above and below the water. I love this image for many reasons. The main reason being that it's a testament to the fragile beauty in the world. What can take thousands, if not millions, of years for nature to perfect itself in a destined balance, can be rapidly destroyed if we are not responsible in the care we give it. This image is pretty close to what the world would look like without the influence of the human, a fleeting occurrence in the world we live in today.

Sector Nine Skateboards Uses Two New Ghiglia Images I am proud to have a longstanding relationship with the world's coolest skateboard company.  Sector Nine skateboards was developed in 1993 a few blocks away from me in La Jolla, California when a group of surfers figured out the best way to get the the surf down the hill from their house was by attaching skate trucks and wheels to a snowboard.  In the course of over 20 years those same "nine-balls" have cornered the longboard skateboard market.  To date, Sector Nine has used close to 15 of my images as skate deck graphics.  Here are the latest two decks to feature my photography.  Get on board and head on over to to check out the rest of their amazing skateboards and skate products.  These guys are some of the coolest humans on the planet!
